Consistent quality, reliable platform

This isn't my first time using Coursera; I've completed a couple of Specializations before. This time I took the Machine Learning Specialization. It was just as well-structured as my previous courses. The content is always high quality, and I appreciate that I can go at my own pace. Delivery, meaning access to the course material, is instant obviously. I keep coming back because I know what to expect – good learning materials and a reliable platform. They seem to update their courses often too, which is nice.

Easy access, useful skills

Signed up for the Python for Everybody course. It was straightforward and I learned a lot. The interface was user-friendly. Got what I needed quickly.

Good value, minor snag

I signed up for the 'Machine Learning Specialization' last month, and the course content itself was really solid, very informative. The videos were clear and the assignments were challenging in a good way. My only minor issue was with the checkout process; it felt a little clunky and I had to re-enter my payment info once. But overall, for the price I paid, it was definitely worth it for the knowledge gained. Delivery was instant since it's all online, which is great.

Consistent learning experience

I've been using Coursera for a few years now, and I just finished the 'Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate.' It was just as well-structured and easy to follow as the 'IBM Data Science Professional Certificate' I completed last year. The content quality is reliably high, and the platform always works without a hitch. That's why I keep coming back for more, it's just so dependable for professional development.

Absolutely loved my course!

I just finished the 'Meta Social Media Marketing' course and it was fantastic! The instructors were so engaging and the material was super current and relevant. I learned so much that I can actually use in my job right away. The platform was smooth and everything loaded fast. I can't wait to sign up for another one! It was such a positive experience.

Good course, slow support

I recently finished the Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate. The course content itself was really solid and easy to follow, I picked up a lot. I liked the hands-on projects too, they helped a lot with understanding the concepts. However, I had a question about one of the assignments and it took almost three days to get a response from support, which was a bit frustrating when I was trying to keep up momentum. The platform is pretty intuitive overall, but that delay in getting help was a slight downside. Still, good value for the certificate.

Great savings on my learning

This was my first time trying Coursera, and I was really focused on getting the most for my money. I signed up for 'Python for Everybody' using the 7-day free trial, which let me get a feel for the course before committing. Then, I found out about their financial aid option and applied for that to get the certificate. It worked out perfectly! I got to learn a new skill without breaking the bank. The content was really comprehensive and well-explained, so I felt like I got an excellent return on my time investment. Very practical for someone on a budget.

Easy to pick up new skills

So I was looking for something to help with work, and a friend told me about Coursera. I decided to try 'AI for Everyone' and it was actually really good! The lectures weren't boring, which is a big plus. It was super easy to navigate the site too. Didn't have any trouble finding what I needed. Felt pretty good about it, you know? Definitely think I'll check out more stuff there.

Is Coursera Plus really worth it if I just want to do a couple of specializations? Or should I just pay for them individually?

M Michael Parker 2 weeks ago
If you're doing more than one specialization, Plus usually makes sense. I did two and it was way cheaper than paying for each one separately, especially since they can have a few courses each.
2
C Chris Torres 2 weeks ago
It depends how long you think it'll take you. If you can blast through them in a month or two, maybe not. But if you're taking your time, Plus is probably the better deal to avoid monthly fees adding up for individual courses.

Has anyone used both Coursera and Udemy? Which one is better for actual learning and getting a job after?

J James Campbell 3 weeks ago
They're pretty different. Coursera feels more academic, with university names and peer-graded stuff. Udemy is more like a marketplace for instructors, so quality can vary a lot.

D David Torres 3 weeks ago
I'd say Coursera if you're looking for something structured with a 'credential' that has a bit more weight. Udemy is good for picking up specific skills quickly, often for cheaper too.

Does Coursera ever do big sales? Want to get Coursera Plus but trying to wait for a good deal if they happen.

S Sandra Moore 1 month ago
They totally do! I got my annual Coursera Plus membership for like $100 off around Black Friday last year. Keep an eye out around November/December.

B Brittany Diaz 1 month ago
Yeah, I think I saw a new year's deal too, so January might be another good time to check. They also sometimes have a first month for a dollar kind of thing.

Hey, thinking about getting that Google Data Analytics cert. Anyone know if those are actually recognized by companies, or is it more for personal learning?

A Andrew White 1 month ago
Yeah, I've seen them pop up on LinkedIn profiles a lot. My friend got one and it definitely helped her get an entry-level analyst job. So, seems legit.

D Danielle 1 month ago
It depends on the company, honestly. Some value them, especially the ones from big names like Google or IBM. Others might prefer a traditional degree. But it's good to have on your resume either way.

what's the deal with the 7-day free trial for Coursera Plus? Is it easy to cancel if I decide it's not for me?

S Sean White 1 month ago
Yep, super easy. Just make sure you cancel before the 7 days are up, otherwise it'll auto-charge you. I did it last month and just found the cancel button in my account settings.
6
O Olivia 1 month ago
I think they send you a reminder email before the trial ends, but don't rely on it. Just set a calendar reminder to cancel if you're not planning to keep it.

Hey, I'm thinking about getting the Google Data Analytics cert. How long does that usually take to finish? I work full-time so my time is a bit limited.

A Andrew 1 month ago
It really depends on how much time you can put in, but I've heard most people finish it in like 3-6 months. The course pages usually give you an estimated time.
6
J John 1 month ago
Yeah, if you dedicate a few hours every week, you can probably get through it. I did the IBM Data Science one, and it was pretty flexible with deadlines, so you could probably pace yourself.

Are these certificates actually useful for jobs? Like, do companies even care if you have a Coursera cert on your resume?

L Lisa Garcia 1 month ago
From my experience, it totally depends on the company and the role. For entry-level stuff or showing you're actively learning, definitely. But it's not a substitute for a degree, usually.

S Susan S. 1 month ago
I put my Google Project Management cert on my LinkedIn and got a few recruiters reach out. It's not a magic bullet, but it helps show initiative, especially if you can talk about what you learned.

I'm a student, is there any way to get a discount on Coursera Plus? That monthly fee is a bit steep for me.

C Carol Young 1 month ago
They do offer student discounts sometimes! Check their site for student programs or if your university has a partnership. That's how I got a better deal.

D Donna T. 1 month ago
You might be able to get financial aid for individual courses even if Plus isn't discounted. That usually covers the certificate cost.
